Welcome to our Sri Lanka Travel Vlog #2, our first FULL day in Colombo, Sri Lanka!
We arrived at our hostel/BnB super late the night before but had a great night’s sleep in our super comfortable beds. Feeling refreshed, we decided to explore Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, before heading off to the Ministry Of Transport and Aviation in search of obtaining a drivers permit.
From Galle Face Green to the Independence Memorial Hall, to the Old Dutch Hospital, Colombo has a tonne of things to see and do with a long history carved by its previous rulers the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British. Colombo’s ports played a major role along ancient east-to-west trading routes, and its history is reflected in its architecture; a mix of colonial buildings, high-rises, and shopping malls.
When we arrived at the Ministry, we were faced with a time constraint, and although we were initially denied a permit, we were given the option to return the next morning. However, would that work with our plans, or would we have to change them to be able to drive a car (legally) in Sri Lanka?
Thanks for watching! Feel free to share your thoughts, opinions, and experiences with Colombo, Sri Lanka in the comments below. We love hearing about other travelers and their stories.
